Phoenix Fitness Center

Partial Reopening: Phoenix Fitness Center (formerly Main Fitness Center)

The Phoenix Fitness Center, formerly the Main Fitness Center, partially reopens for strength and conditioning beginning March 24, 2025.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no 24/7 access available.

The Phoenix Fitness Center features cardio equipment, free weights, and plate-loaded equipment.  – No restrooms, showers, or water fountains are available inside the facility – Limited, short-term-use lockers are available. Locker rooms are available at the Field House Fitness Center. Patrons are also encouraged to bring their own water bottles. The entry is located on the southeast side of the building (left of the facility’s main entrance). CLICK TO VIEW MAP

Five portable restrooms will be located near the entrance. Nearby indoor restrooms are available in the Legends Sports Grill lobby.

Showers are available at the Field House Fitness Center, Building 741,  located across Eglin Boulevard and adjacent to the Track & Sports Complex, near the East Gate Express and Auto Hobby Shop.

The Lightning Fitness Center and the Field House Fitness Center will revert to previous hours of operation beginning Monday, March 24, 2025. The Lightning Fitness Center is open and manned Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Field House Fitness Center is open and manned Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both facilities continue to offer 24/7 access with required registration for each facility.

Federal Holidays, observed 96 TW AFMC Family Days, and Sundays are available for patrons registered for 24/7 Access only

NOTE: 24/7 Access specific to each location, you must register at the fitness center of your choice.

The main portion of the fitness center remains restricted to patrons due to the damage caused by the early Christmas Day fire. We are thankful to the CE, fire, bioenvironmental, public health, and safety teams who have worked with us tirelessly to ensure this portion of the facility is safe for our community.

The 96 FSS remains committed to promoting health and wellness, providing a supportive environment for physical fitness, and community engagement. We appreciated your patience and ongoing support.

    Fitness & Sports Helpful Information:

    Eligibility & Access

    All base personnel are eligible to utilize Eglin’s Fitness Center locations. Access to indoor facilities require in-person registration.

    Hours of Registration at Main Fitness Center, Field House, & Lightning Facility.

    Information on facilities, Intramural and Varsity sports, and hours of operation can be obtained by calling the Fitness Center at 850.882.6223.

    The Main Fitness Center Complex is located on both sides of Eglin Blvd. at the East Gate.

    Fitness Center Dress Code

    ALLOWED
    Tops
    • Tops with built-in undergarments
    • Top must meet top of the shorts when standing
    Bottoms/Pants/Shorts
    • Pants and mid-thigh-length shorts

    *Anything not covered by these dress code rules is at the discretion of Eglin Fitness & Sports Facility Management. 

    Fitness Center Rules

    • Personnel utilizing the Eglin Fitness Center will be in appropriate athletic attire (gym shorts, shirts, and approved gym shoes) except for formal military training Plastic or rubber suits are not authorized in any fitness facility, including tracks and fields. Dress Code is enforced at all facilities.
    • ALL Clothing, personal items, bags, and valuables must be secured in lockers. EFC will not be responsible for items in the dressing rooms or the Fitness Center.
    • Inappropriate language or graphics are prohibited.
    • Shirts must be worn by all personnel in all areas of the fitness center except the locker rooms. (See Dress Code)
    • Smoking, Food, glass bottles or canned beverages are prohibited in the Fitness Center.
    • Only court shoes (non marking) will be allowed on hard wood courts. No swimming attire or bare feet allowed in the Fitness Center. (See Dress Code)
    • Dunking or hanging on the basketball rims is not allowed. Anyone violating this will be ask to leave the facility. Damage caused by dunking or hanging on the rim will be paid for by the individual or their sponsor.
    • Please wipe down ALL exercise equipment after use.
    • Direct all questions, concerns and maintenance needs to the Fitness Staff on duty.
    • All Gym bags, book bags, large purses, etc. must be stored in the locker rooms.
    • AGE RESTRICTIONS: 
        • 16 years of age and over — Unrestricted use of all FC facilities and equipment. Need not be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
        • • 13 – 15 years of age — All cardiovascular and weight equipment, group exercise rooms: Require interactive supervision* from an adult (parent, legal guardian, qualified fitness or youth program staff member, or coach) at all times. **Other activity areas (basketball court, racquetball courts, running track): Parent or legal guardian must be in facility.
        • 6 – 12 years of age-All cardiovascular and weight equipment, group exercise rooms: Access to these areas prohibited. *** Other activity areas (basketball court, racquetball courts, running track): Requires interactive supervision from an adult at all times.
        • Children 6 and above are not allowed in the locker rooms of the opposite sex.

    Fitness Center Rules (Unmanned Hours)

    During Unmanned Hours:

    Do not use your CAC access to let others enter.

    Do not hold or prop the door for anyone.

    Do not go to the door to let anyone in.

    This is a high priority, security and safety issue.

    Video surveillance footage will be viewed daily and actions will be taken.

    1st violation = CAC access suspended 7 days

    2nd violation = CAC access suspended 30 days if further violations occur, your commander will be notified and your after hours access could be suspended permanently.

    Note: if your CAC /ID card expires after registering for 24-hour access, visit the front desk to update your information and activate your new CAC /ID. 

    Fitness Assessment Cell (FAC)

    On the west side of base, the Fitness Assessment Cell (FAC) at Oak Hill, across from Unity Park, is where Active Duty Airmen perform their bi-annual PT tests. 850.882.9260 Building 2398, Oak Hill location  Map

    Reservation Form: Request Use of Fitness Facilities & Equipment

    The Eglin Fitness & Sports program provides an Online Reservation Form for patrons to easily request exclusive use of fitness facilities and sports equipment. Reservation requests submitted online will receive follow-up from Fitness Center Staff to be approved or disapproved.
