Fitness & Sports Helpful Information:

Eligibility & Access

All base personnel are eligible to utilize Eglin’s Fitness Center locations. Access to indoor facilities require in-person registration.

Hours of Registration at Main Fitness Center, Field House, & Lightning Facility.

Information on facilities, Intramural and Varsity sports, and hours of operation can be obtained by calling the Fitness Center at 850.882.6223.

The Main Fitness Center Complex is located on both sides of Eglin Blvd. at the East Gate.

Fitness Center Dress Code

ALLOWED
Tops
• Tops with built-in undergarments
• Top must meet top of the shorts when standing
Bottoms/Pants/Shorts
• Pants and mid-thigh-length shorts
• Pants and Shorts with built-in undergarments
Footwear
• Socks
• Appropriate athletic shoes
  (tennis, running, court, cross-training)
Other
• Proper hygiene
• Limited use of scent, perfume, or cologne

NOT Allowed
Tops
• Clothing with rivets
• Modified/homemade t-shirts/tank tops
• Exposed cleavage, chest/nipple, back, side & midriff area
• Tops designed to be worn as an undergarment

*Anything not covered by these dress code rules is at the discretion of Eglin Fitness & Sports Facility Management. 

Fitness Center Rules

  • Personnel utilizing the Eglin Fitness Center will be in appropriate athletic attire (gym shorts, shirts, and approved gym shoes) except for formal military training Plastic or rubber suits are not authorized in any fitness facility, including tracks and fields. Dress Code is enforced at all facilities.
  • ALL Clothing, personal items, bags, and valuables must be secured in lockers. EFC will not be responsible for items in the dressing rooms or the Fitness Center.
  • Inappropriate language or graphics are prohibited.
  • Shirts must be worn by all personnel in all areas of the fitness center except the locker rooms. (See Dress Code)
  • Smoking, Food, glass bottles or canned beverages are prohibited in the Fitness Center.
  • Only court shoes (non marking) will be allowed on hard wood courts. No swimming attire or bare feet allowed in the Fitness Center. (See Dress Code)
  • Dunking or hanging on the basketball rims is not allowed. Anyone violating this will be ask to leave the facility. Damage caused by dunking or hanging on the rim will be paid for by the individual or their sponsor.
  • Please wipe down ALL exercise equipment after use.
  • Direct all questions, concerns and maintenance needs to the Fitness Staff on duty.
  • All Gym bags, book bags, large purses, etc. must be stored in the locker rooms.
  • AGE RESTRICTIONS: 
      • 16 years of age and over — Unrestricted use of all FC facilities and equipment. Need not be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
      • • 13 – 15 years of age — All cardiovascular and weight equipment, group exercise rooms: Require interactive supervision* from an adult (parent, legal guardian, qualified fitness or youth program staff member, or coach) at all times. **Other activity areas (basketball court, racquetball courts, running track): Parent or legal guardian must be in facility.
      • 6 – 12 years of age-All cardiovascular and weight equipment, group exercise rooms: Access to these areas prohibited. *** Other activity areas (basketball court, racquetball courts, running track): Requires interactive supervision from an adult at all times.
      • Children 6 and above are not allowed in the Opposite gender locker room.

Fitness Center Rules (Unmanned Hours)

During Unmanned Hours:

Do not use your CAC access to let others enter.

Do not hold or prop the door for anyone.

Do not go to the door to let anyone in.

This is a high priority, security and safety issue.

Video surveillance footage will be viewed daily and actions will be taken.

1st violation = CAC access suspended 7 days

2nd violation = CAC access suspended 30 days if further violations occur, your commander will be notified and your after hours access could be suspended permanently.

Note: if your CAC /ID card expires after registering for 24-hour access, visit the front desk to update your information and activate your new CAC /ID. 

Intramural Sports

Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, Soccer and Flag Football Intramural Sports Leagues are open for participation seasonally. Active Duty (All Services) and dependents (18-year-old or older) assigned to Eglin AFB and DoD Civilians (NAF/GS) are welcome. Others interested must check with Fitness Center staff for eligibility. On the west side of base, the Fitness Assessment Cell (FAC) at Oak Hill, across from Unity Park, is where Active Duty Airmen perform their bi-annual PT tests. And down Nomad Way to the home of Eglin’s 33rd Fighter Wing, you’ll find The Lightning Fitness Center, where 24-hour access is available. FAC Map

Best in AFMC

Frequently named “Best in AFMC,” the Fitness Center operates the largest intramural sports program in AFMC and one of the largest in the USAF, encompassing seven different intramural sports. The Annual Gate-to-Gate Run and regular fun runs are also hosted by the Fitness Center. During the week, a diverse schedule of fun group fitness classes offers a wide range of physical intensities and a variety of focuses, from strength training to fat burning to heart health and more.
