Emerald Coast Science Center Outreach with Eglin & Hurlburt Libraries
Calling all curious minds and future scientists! Get ready for a morning of awesome scientific exploration at the Emerald Coast Science Center Outreach program with the Eglin Community Library and the Hurlburt Field Library. The science center and the libraries are teaming up on Saturday, July 18th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Eglin Bayview Community Center! If you’re a kid who loves to tinker, experiment, and discover how things work, then you won’t want to miss this!
Get ready for hands-on fun with several STEM activity centers and stations all inspired by this year’s Summer Reading Program theme, “Plant a Seed, Read!”

STEM Stations:
Twilight Bloom: Learn how some flowers have adapted to bloom at night, then make your own spinning decotrope that shows the science in action!
Nightlight Flight: Explore how nocturnal pollinators like moths and bats help flowers grow by tossing your pollinator onto blooming targets in this fluttering flight challenge.
Wildflower Seed Bombs: Get your hands dirty crafting nutrient-packed, native wildflower seed bombs to take home and help make your corner of the world a more colorful place.
Pollination Journey: Using our Bee-Bot robots, students get to explore what makes pollination so important by taking the bee-bot along its pollination journey.
Sprout Scout Explore: Explore the amazing life of plants from tiny seeds to full-grown greenery! Families discover the plant life cycle and how seeds grow using Ozobot Ari Robots. Then, they’ll get to plant their own green bean to take home and watch it grow, just like a real gardener.
3D Plant Life Cycle: Join us for an innovative journey through the Seed Life Cycle with 3D Pen Creations! Families will use their creativity and engineering skills to design and build models depicting the stages of seed growth, from germination to maturity.
What do you Seed?: Seeds come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities! Let’s dive into the colorful universe of seeds, and uncover the secrets behind how they transform into magnificent plants.
