1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Attention, All Parents & Caregivers — The Eglin Library invites you and your child to participate in an amazing FREE reading program: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten! This nationwide program (abbreviated “1KBBK”) encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she begins kindergarten. Studies have shown that reading together creates an opportunity to bond with your child while also promoting the joy of reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers.

Once enrolled in the program through Beanstack.org, your child will receive a 1KBBK goodie bag and have their last name added to the Eglin Library’s interactive display. At each milestone (every 100 books read to your child), the Library will present the child with a prize. At 500 books a medium prize is awarded, and at the final milestone of 1,000 books — great accolades, a certificate, and grand prize are awarded!
