The Transition Assistance Program’s (TAP) Pre-Separation Briefing  is a mandatory class for all personnel separating/retiring from the military. The purpose of Pre-Separation is to provide a high-level overview of available benefits, services, and resources for SMs and their families.  Pre-Separation is the second step in the transition process, following a service member’s Initial Counseling.
